Dementia Service
Our dementia service is available for people aged 18+ who live in the Highland region and are living with memory loss.
Befrienders Highland offers Distance Befriending for people living with dementia. This means that the befriending will be provided over the telephone on a weekly basis.
Eligibility
We can accept individuals (Friends) who:
- are aged 18 or over.
- are living within the Highland region.
- are living with dementia.
Types of befriending
We offer Distance Befriending over the telephone to individuals wishing to use our dementia service.
Who can make a referral?
- GP's, mental health workers, social work services, hospital professionals, memory clinics, or voluntary organisations can all make referrals.
- You can refer yourself.
- Family members can refer.
How is a referral made?
Referrals: If you would like to refer someone, please download, and complete the referral form below, returning it to us via email or post, ensuring that the form is signed and dated by the individual being referred.

BH Referral Form - Dementia Service
We are now open for a limited number of referrals for all our befriending services throughout Highland. Referrals will be prioritised according to volunteer capacity/location.
