Getting Active
The Active Health project supports people to become more active as a way of improving their health and wellbeing.
There is no cost to participate and they work with anyone registered with a GP practice in the Highlands who would benefit from being more physically active.

Clarity Walk is a social enterprise that aims to improve mental health and well-being through No Phone nature walks. Enjoy a casual walking group with no pressure to be a certain fitness level or have the latest kit as they have a walk for all abilities, including one for those with mobility restrictions
Nature 4 Health aims to help people connect with nature, each other and themselves. Experience the mindful benefits of green and blue space and the fascinating species we share the planet with. Their qualified and experienced guides deliver nature walks for wellbeing and sessions on fire skills, foraging, camp fire cooking (eating and drinking), nature ID, team building games, crafts (e.g. paracord weaving, cordage, spoon carving etc.), navigation and journeying skills.
Everyday walking is the key to improving the health and wellbeing of the Scottish people. Find local walks for all, including beginner Health Walks, Cancer Friendly, and Dementia Friendly.
The project supports individuals aged 18 years and above who have low confidence in cycling and would like to increase their cycling skills and confidence so that they can cycle more, use their bike for active travel and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Highland Disabled Ramblers exists to enable people with disabilities to access the wonderful Highland countryside in a safe, organised, and friendly manner.
Spokes for Folks is a Cycling UK affiliated community group.
Spokes for Folks provides sociable assisted trike or adapted bike rides - piloted by a pool of trained volunteers - for the elderly or those with limited mobility.
Parkruns are free, weekly, community events. Saturday morning events are 5k and take place in parks and open spaces. On Sunday mornings, there are 2k junior parkruns for children aged four to 14. Parkrun is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.
jogscotland groups are perfect for people who want to get active for the first time, or more experienced runners who want to exercise in a sociable, supportive environment. Nobody is “too slow” to join jogscotland, and nobody gets left behind! They also offer walking sessions for those who want to get ready to jog, groups for mums with buggies, workplace groups, and junior jog programmes.
