Spirit of the Highlands and Islands Tapestry Project

The Spirit of the Highlands and Islands Tapestry Project is working with hundreds of volunteers from across the region to produce an embroidered tapestry that captures the spirit of the area (you may have heard of The Great Tapestry of Scotland which we worked to produce ten years ago). The finished artwork will be displayed in part in the newly created visitor centre at Inverness Castle, with many panels being displayed in communities across the area.

The tapestry will consist of approx. 50 separate panels which will be stitched by community groups in every part of the Highlands and Islands. We already have nearly 300 volunteers registered and I wanted to drop you a line to let you know about the project and in the hope that some of the members of your community may be interested in joining us. You could either form your own group to stitch a panel or I can allocate individuals to a group nearby.
